The Shortest Day in Greece

Livaneio Geniko Lykeio Kardamylon celebrated the shortest day of the year on 22nd December 2016. The event had 3 activities.

The first activity consisted of a PowerPoint presentation about “Time Management”. The participants (students, parents and teachers) found the topic really interesting and shared their own experiences, difficulties and tips about the subject. The participants were given comment cards to get feedback. The comments were indisputable positive.

The second activity was about the “Awareness Notebooks”. Two different kinds of notebooks were designed before the meeting, one of which is for parents consisting of four parts entitled as “my son/daughter, school environment, digital skills, culture” and the other for students with the parts entitled as “me, my parents, school environment, culture”.

At the meeting, “Awareness Notebooks” were handed out and parents as well as students were informed in detail about what they were expected to do with them. The steps they will follow are as the following:

  1. They will note down what they realize in daily life on their notebooks at least three times a week.
  2. The notebooks will be collected after a two month period.
  3. The most interesting quotes will be selected and gathered in a leaflet.

The third activity was called “Experiences from our first meeting in Latvia” and we informed the participants about our trip in Daugavpils, with many photos and videos.

We served Christmas cookies (called kourambiedes), coffee and tea and we wished for love, peace and happiness. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
